Drake has been presented with Toronto's key to the city.

The Canadian rapper, who was born and raised in the city, was given the key by Mayor John Tory at yesterday's NBA All-Star celebrity game.

In a series of tweets beforehand, Toronto's mayor explained why Drake was being honoured. "This is a man who has achieved wild success, by any standard. And more than anything, he wants great things for Toronto," he wrote.

"This is a man who could live anywhere, but calls Toronto home. He wants us to be proud of him. And we are. I am."

He continued: "Toronto must tell its stories. We must celebrate our talent & harness it for change. This isn't swagger. It is key."

"This is one of the greatest moments of my life, if not the greatest," Drake said during the presentation, according to the Toronto Star

As Consequence Of Sound points out, Drake's latest single 'Summer Sixteen' contains the lyric "I might get a key to the city and give it to Wayne/Or give it to one of the young boys to carry the wave."
